Everyone is invited to enjoy the fun online game Chessle, which is a smart variation of the guessing game. Influenced by the Wordle craze, instead of words, players try to figure out a secret chess opening. With each of the moves, players receive feedback which helps them get closer to the right sequence. If a square is green, the move is in the right position. Yellow means the move is in the solution but in the wrong position, and gray means it is completely out of the solution. It is a chess player’s fun and relaxing experience, and it is also great for casual gamers.

How to Play Chessle

It is simple to play Chessle but actually very engaging. You enter potential chess moves through your mouse and keyboard, attempting to foresee both white and black openings. There are six attempts made available for you to find the correct series of moves, and each attempt displays hints in colors—like Wordle.

There are two modes:

  • Standard mode: Three moves per side.
  • Expert mode: Five moves per side.

Each day at midnight PST, a brand-new puzzle is generated, giving players a fresh challenge. For example, if Nf3 appears in green, it’s the correct move at that position. If d4 appears in yellow, it’s played but in a different spot. Gray means it’s not part of the game.

Why You’ll Love Chessle

Chessle marries logic and strategy in a fast, sharable package. It doesn't require you to be a grandmaster—just you, someone who enjoys clever puzzles. With its every-day puzzles, competitive streaks, and sharable scores, Chessle brings together the fun of guess games with the depth of chess tactics.
